About the performers:

Pianist MIRAN SONG made her professional debut at the age of 10 with the Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra. She graduated with honors from Seoul High School of Music and Art. Upon graduating, she further pursued her studies abroad at Indiana University where she finished her Bachelor of Music degree. Later she received her Master of Music degree from Queens College of City University of New York.

At both schools she graduated with highest honors, including the Aaron Copland music award and Phi Beta Kappa award. In 1990 Ms. Song achieved a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California where she served as a teaching assistant. At USC she was honored with a dean's award and a Rameau Scholarship for distinctive music student. She has also studied at the Sewanee, Strawberry Creek and Nice international festivals.

Ms. Song has performed extensively in the United States in New York, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Bloomington, Indiana and Los Angeles, both as a recitalist and as a chamber musician. In Korea, she has played numerous recitals and was invited to perform with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean National Symphony, Incheon Philharmonic, Kang Neung Symphony and Kyongki Philharmonic.

Recently she was invited to perform at Zaarbruken City Music Hall in Germany and at ChingTao University of China. She was a visiting scholar at California State University Northridge in 2004-2005. Currently she is a professor at Dae-Jin University in Korea.

Pianist HYE-YOUNG SUH, native of Seoul, Korea, graduated from Seoul National University (BM, MM) and the Cleveland Institute of Music (DMA). Over the years, Dr. Suh has given numerous solo recitals and appeared frequently in chamber ensembles at major concert halls in Korea. She was a soloist with Seoul Philharmonic orchestra, Global Symphony Orchestra, Kharkov Philharmonic orchestra (Ukraine).

She has been performed actively as a member of a piano project group “Soloists93” to explore wide range of piano repertoires focusing particularly on contemporary or rarely heard pieces. She is also dedicated to researching in many hidden piano works by women composers, and performed them in Seoul, Anyang(Korea), Glendale, Los Angeles (USA), Nakasaki (Japan), Tienjin (China), Bangkok (Thailand) and  Marion (Indiana Wesleyan University, USA). Recently Dr. Suh gave a lecture recital on Messiaen’s piano music in Seoul, and visited US to perform and give masterclasses at Delta State University (MS) and California State University at Sacramento (CA). She has served as a judge in numerous competitions including Piano Campus-Journées Internationales de Piano (Pontoise, France), and Korea-Asia Piano open competition (Seoul, Korea).

Dr. Suh is the author of Piano Music in the 20th Century published in Korea (2004). She was a visiting scholar at California State University, Northridge (USA) and currently is a professor of piano, head of Division of Music, Sungkyul University (Anyang, Korea) where she teaches piano performance and music history.
